SOTA To Host Art Walk

With SOTA in the works the time to plan for next year’s projects and festivals are already underway. One of the most exciting has been proposed by Mrs. Lind, Department Co-Chairperson and Ceramics teacher at SOTA, whom has proposed an Arts Walk that will utilize the MHS open campus and bring in art from around the county. The experience aims to provide an environment were artist of all ages can talk about their craft and perspectives on artistic form. SOTA Endorsed by SDCS VAPA

In May of this year Ms. Karen Evans, director of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) for San Diego City School (SDCS), met with SOTA educational designer Mr. Loescher and Madison High School Principal Ms. Eves to review the SOTA education and start up plan for the 2006-2007 school year. Ms. Evans brought considerable insight to the development of SOTA and recommended several changes that were implemented into the plan. With the new plan in place VAPA is pleased with the addition of SOTA as a learning community of Madison High School and the San Diego City Schools. Ms. Evans commented that “More arts in our schools is the goal of VAPA” and that with a hybrid of ROP, VAPA and traditionally credentialed teachers SOTA is off to a fantastic start.
